Ashmita Arjun is a writer who has worked across media from screenplay development to podcasts to theater. She has been shortlisted for the Writers Ink Screenwriting Lab and a Short Film Lab by Root.ax – trans-media accelerator. Currently, she works as a writer/director on SparxByMukeshBansal. She is interested in exploring female protagonists, gen z humor, dysfunctional family dynamics and unlikely friendships. Her narratives tread a delicate balance between personal and political translating philosophical ideologies into digestible “masala” narratives. She founded Runaway Cabaret – a performance collective and has written/directed Three And Then Some for the Erotica Theatre Festival, and The Gentlemen’s Hourglass – Longlisted – Toto Writing Awards 2020. Her educational history includes a Post-Graduate Diploma in Performance Making from Drama School Mumbai, a BA in Theatre Studies, Literature and Psychology from Christ University, and an acting/writing intensive at Stagedoor Manor, New York.
