Isha Ashta is an advertising and documentary film director with a passion for telling human stories. Her most recent documentary project tells the story of Sadam Hanjabam- an LGBTQI activist and champion of mental wellness, and is featured on episode 5 of ‘The Me You Can’t See’ – a 5-part series on mental health, streaming on Apple TV+. Graduating in Mathematics, Isha brought my appetite for numbers to devouring films. She worked as a copywriter for a year, and soon after, studied TV & Video Production at XIC, Mumbai. The female experience, identity- especially individuation and coming of age are themes Isha is most interested in exploring through her work. Exhausted by the tropes of female abjection we see on screen, Isha wants her female characters to exist in their power, their messiness, their vulnerability and trauma. She is most influenced by the writing of Ottessa Moshfegh, Ann Patchett and Emily Austin.
